OUR SWIM TEAM
Don’t be afraid of the water. Become a shark and own the water!
The Sharks offer a comprehensive swim program for kids ages 4 – 18. All swimmers 8 & under must be able to swim one length of the pool (25 meters) unassisted. Swimmers 9 & older must be able to swim 2 lengths of the pool unassisted. We also offer a pre-team option for kids that are willing to take instruction and follow directions, but are not quite ready to swim the full pool length.
There are NO TRYOUTS; everyone is welcome! Our coaching staff has years of experience swimming and coaching; many are River’s Bend residents or were Sharks themselves!
This home-grown approach means our coaches are invested in your child, the swimmers, and the neighborhood. Our coaching staff has a variety of professional training to prepare them to coach and teach water safety instruction.
What can you expect as a swimmer?
- To receive supportive and detailed instruction.
- To learn to swim each stroke proficiently.
- To have a great time with friends, new and old.
What can you expect as a parent?
- To watch your child grow as an athlete.
- To watch your child’s confidence increase as a result of their hard work and successes.
- To participate (that means to work at least one half at EVERY swim meet) in an activity that supports your child.
- To meet and spend time with other parents and share the experience.

Why become a Shark?
Recently, the River’s Bend Sharks have had at least 150 swimmers on the team. The swimmers stay active during the summer in a healthy and supervised activity, and that alone is a success. Our swimmers have also accomplished great things in the water, including personal bests throughout the summer, in addition to many medals won during league championships. Most recently, the Sharks won the Southside Swim League Championship Meet in July 2023!
What do you do as a Shark? Practice, practice, practice, and have FUN, FUN, FUN! The coaches will get you in the water and swimming as soon as possible to see what you can do.
Why all the practice? The Swim Meets!! This is where all the practice pays off and swimmers show off their hard work, meet and exceed goals.
Points are awarded to the first three swimmers in each division, and age group and ribbons are awarded through 6th place.
What are the age groups?

Eight and under Girls/Boys

Our divisions
What does white, red, blue and gold division mean?
Each age group is broken down into divisions based on swimmers’ times. The gold division swimmers are the fastest, followed by the blue, red and white divisions. Swimmers do not have to be fast to join the team. Every Shark gets to compete against swimmers in their age group with comparable speeds and helps contribute to the overall success of the team. RBST Sharks have something to offer everyone!
The Sharks are very family friendly.
- The coaches work around family vacations and other activities.
- There is no attendance policy.
- The Sharks are about providing fun for the whole family!
You do not have to live in River’s Bend to be on the team.
If you would like to be added to the swim team e-mail list and receive all upcoming information to join the team, please e-mail rbstswimteam@gmail.com. See you at the pool!
